Southern Rural Water Authority
Lerderderg River Diversion Weir Environmental
Flow Release Upgrade Works
Bacchus Marsh, VIC (2004)

This Contract requires the installation of an environ-mental flow release system through the left abutment of the Lerderderg Weir and the modification of the existing flow compensation system. The project comprises the construction of a DN725 outlet pipe with associated actuated slide gate, trash rack, flowmeter controls, concrete pit and outlet chamber, providing an additional outlet through the left abutment concrete of the Weir to discharge downstream of the Weir. Also required are the modifications to the existing DN300 reinforced concrete compensation flow pipe with associated inlet modifications, compensation outlet chamber radial gate modifications, DN375 replacement pipe and flowmeter, providing extra capacity for the system. The overall environmental outlet system is required to pass a range of flows, from 30ML/day to 150 ML/day. However, allowance in the design has been made for passing future environmental flows up to 220 ML/day.

Port of Melbourne Corporation
Construction of a new Berthing Dolphin at
Holden Dock, Yarraville, VIC (2004)

This Contract involves the construction of a new Berthing Dolphin within the Mobil Fuel Berth facility at Holden Dock for the Port of Melbourne Corporation. The insitu concrete Dolphin cap is supported on three 762mm by 19.1mm wall thickness, 36.5m long tubular steel piles. Various seabed obstructions were encountered during piling requiring the use of a hydraulic hammer after initial pitching with a vibratory hammer to reduce working radius of raked piles. Works were constructed at a live refuelling wharf, requiring constant remobilisation to allow for shipping movements, demonstrating our flexible approach to these types of works.
