Dampier Tug Pen Expansion Project

The RT Dampier tug pen is an existing facility currently accommodating 4 tug vessels, 2 line boats and 1 pilot boat. the upgrade will expand the facility to accommodate an additional 2 tug vessels based on similar layout to the exisiting facility. The marine works includes marine structure design, new piling to support an additional finger pier arrangement and access walkways connecting the existing structures.

Works include the pitching and rotopiling of 18 meter piles with toe depth of 6 meters below the seabed floor. Works also included the tensile testing of six piles to 30 tonne.

Dampier Salt Water Intake Project

Supply and installation of 6 rock-socketed tubular piles as part of the Pond Zero Pump Station Upgrade. The 610mm diameter piles are 20m in length and will support a new pump station platform on the seaward side of the existing levee.

Australian Marine Complex (AMC) Service & Supply Base - Piling Works

This project is designed as a barge berth for Chevron’s Gorgon Project. Austral’s scope was to install 409 No. paired sheetpiles to form 295m main wall and 260m anchor wall. Sheetpiles were installed in lengths of up to 19m long using a Banut 655 and leader-guided vibrator. 6 No. mooring piles were also installed with diameters of 762mm and 914mm. Works were completed 1 month ahead of schedule.

Sino Iron Causeway Creek Crossing Piling Works & Bridge Deck Installation Works

Installation of 159 number, 610 diameter piles and construction of a 120m long x 28m wide bridge structure. Works include the design and fabrication of a falseworks system to enable hand over hand installation of the piles, the welding in place of 23 Number Steel headstocks and the installation of 600 No. precast planks  then the pouring of 920m3 of insitu concrete to form the deck.

Installation of infrastructure for collecting and cleaning storm water and process water. The infrastructure will treat the water of hydrocarbon and sediment contamination. Collie River Bridge Piling Works

Austral proposed an alternative design to install 32 No. 610mm diamter raking piles closed ended. Piles were designed to support four river piers and were driven utilising a spudded barge, Moonbeam piling leader and S-90 hydraulic hammer. Piling was completed on schedule despite poor weather conditions.

MEM Lube Storage Shed

Construction of a MEM Lube Storage Shed. The Shed will be used to store bulk lube containers and will be a loading and unloading point for lube service trucks. The new shed will comply with relevant Rio Tinto and Australian Standards for storage of hydrocarbons.

Wash Bay Stage 1

Slope Stability Project

Re-Stabilisation of the slope beneath Conveyor 1 at Paraburdoo Mine Site. The slope had a low factor of safety against failure and needed to be strengthened to prevent further slope instability. Slope angle was re graded to 38 degrees to twenty meters eitherside of the CV1 conveyor.

Construction  of extension to existing harbour which involves the installation of approximately 450m of sheetpile wall and removal of existing sheetpile wall. Dredging of harbour included contaminated soils. The construction of capping beams and tie backs to the sheetpile wall. the construction of piled jetties for a straddle carrier including structural concrete slabs. The removal of existing timber jetties and mooring piles.

HMAS Cairns Redevelopment - Marine Structures Trade Package 030

Construction of a 66m x 3m widening piled cast insitu deck to the current Navy wharf, and a new access jetty to the Sugar Wharf structure which consists of a bridging section 92m long by 6m wide. The access jetty will be piled structure with an insitu deck with a service corridor on the south side of the jetty.

VRC Flemington Race Course Upgrade Project

Construction of a temporary sheetpiled cofferdam in three stages for construction of a cast insitu concrete tunnel to enable the secure movement of racehorses between the new stables and the Birdcage. The full perimeter cofferdam requires 12 metre long L607 profile sheetpiles fully vibrated into saturated coode island silt to privide our client with a semi-dry enclosure to open tunnel whilst progressivley installing waler steelwork and propping beams.

capital infrastructure works for Hamersley Iron involving re-construction of "Stacker 82" embankment and railway track. Re-construction works were undertaken whilst the stacker was operational and the overhead conveyor was live.

Sooley Dam-Flood Security Upgrading and Raising

Excavation and construction of a new 100m wide primary service chute spillway. Raising and strengthening the existing concrwete gravity dam wall via the construction of a new buttress section capped by a reinforced concrete ogee overflow crest. Modifying and upgrading existing outlet works to suit the new dam arrangement and to cater for modern operational and maintenance standards.

Carnarvon Land Backed Wharf

Construction of a new land backed wharf facility, complete with a hardstand and cyclone moorings. This involves constructing a sheet pile retaining wall with anchorage system, a primarily straight wharf section and a quay section. Project also involves dredging around the new wharf appropriate for the boats it will be accommodating.

Construction of Extension to the Multi-Purpose Berth

Construction of a 130 meter long wharf structure which is open deck on pile structure. Dredging clays and soft sediments from beneath the berth structure and reclamation area footprint and dredging the berth basin area to RL-14.5m. Total estimated dredge volume is in the order of 50,000 cubic meters. An armoured revetment beneath the open deck structure tied into the revetment beneath the existing berth.

Construction of 12 piled dolphins, wharf platform in operating port conditions. Our part of the project involved extension of the quay line into the deepened harbour. The design specified installation of piles in rock, including a 5m socket beneath the toe of the driven pile. The scope also included the installation of services and wharf furniture.

Warren Weirs Upgrade

Construction of four river regulating structures and accompanying fish ladders on the Macquarie River and Tributaries. Substancial temporary works for construction of the structures in 'dry' condition sees the Macquarie River diverted via a 220m long, 36,000 cubic meter excavated and rock benched channel and sheet pile cofferdams across the river. Temporary works ahve been designed to safely pass flood events of 4,000ml/day with no flooding of the works.

Installation of floating breakwater and jetty guide piles (verticals) and raking dolphin piles. Capability of installing the piles to the special tolerances required; 20mm in plan location and dead plumb. All piles were potted in sandstone by special rotary technique. Raking dolphin piles and one vertical test pile were grouted.

Appleton Dock Fendering Upgrade

Construction of a modern rubber fendering system along nearly 1000m of Appleton Dock. Hydro demolition of the existing wharf structure was necessary to facilitate installation of 79 No. horizontal precast fender panels with rubber arch fenders. In addition, 29 No. had vertical steel fender frames with UHMWPE low friction facing for low freeboard ships. Austral fabricated multiple false work frames for demolition, precast panel installation and fender fit-off to increase safety and speed of installation and to allow uninterrupted berth operation.
